Terms & Conditions

Here's everything you need to know when hiring a Fridgy trailer. We've kept it simple so there are no surprises during your hire.

Important

The trailer must be empty while being towed. Once stationary, it can be loaded and used for storage.

Important Usage Rules

To help keep the trailer safe and operating correctly, please follow these guidelines:

  • The trailer must be empty while being towed — once stationary, it can be loaded and used for storage
  • Please don't place items on shelves while moving
  • Please don't adjust refrigeration settings
  • Please don't interfere with, modify, or tamper with any trailer systems, wiring, or equipment
  • If any issue occurs, please stop using the trailer and let us know

Booking & Payment

By booking, you agree to these terms and to pay:

  • The hire fee shown at booking
  • Any late return fees
  • Any additional costs including damage, cleaning, tolls or fines

Unpaid tolls or fines may include a processing fee of up to $45.

If payment is overdue, we may charge reasonable recovery and administration fees to collect the outstanding amount.

You authorise us to charge your nominated payment method for hire fees, damage, fines, or any additional charges under these terms.

Who Can Tow the Trailer

To protect both you and us, please ensure the following:

  • Only drivers listed on the booking may tow the trailer
  • Drivers must hold a valid licence suitable for towing
  • If an unauthorised driver causes damage, you may be responsible for associated costs

Your Responsibilities

To help ensure everything runs smoothly:

  • Please return the trailer clean and tidy
  • Take care of tyres, plugs, and cables
  • Keep the trailer secure when not in use
  • Let us know about any issues as soon as possible
  • The trailer must not be sublet, lent, or made available to any other party
  • The trailer must only be used for lawful purposes

Insurance

Your hire includes limited insurance for damage to the trailer only.

Excess

You are responsible for the first $1,000 of any damage, plus a $75 admin fee per claim. Insurance cover applies to the first incident during your hire only — any further damage may not be covered.

Not Covered

You may be responsible for damage if:

  • The driver is not authorised on the booking
  • The trailer is used unsafely or illegally
  • There is roof, water, or underbody damage
  • The driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • A known fault is not reported and continues to be used
  • The trailer systems have been interfered with or modified

Important

This insurance does not cover:

  • Your vehicle
  • Third-party damage
  • Personal property stored in or on the trailer

Where applicable, you may be responsible for costs relating to recovery, towing, loss of use, or third-party damage. These charges may be applied to your card.

Damage, Recovery & Loss of Use

  • Please let us know as soon as possible if any damage occurs
  • Please don't carry out repairs without checking with us first
  • The hirer is responsible for tyre and rim damage
  • If the trailer is damaged and unavailable for hire, you may be responsible for the cost of lost hire income while repairs are carried out
  • If the trailer needs to be recovered due to damage, breakdown caused by misuse, or a breach of these terms, recovery costs may be charged to you
  • Hire charges may continue until the trailer is returned or recovered, even if it is damaged or not in use

Callouts & Breakdowns

If we need to attend the trailer due to an issue caused by user error, a callout fee may apply. Common examples include:

  • Power not connected correctly
  • Settings changed by the hirer
  • Damage caused during use

If the issue is not caused by you, there's no charge — we're happy to help.

Personal Property

We are not responsible for any items stored in or left in the trailer during or after your hire. Please make sure you remove all personal belongings when returning the trailer.

Returns

  • Please return the trailer on time to the agreed location
  • Late returns are charged at $10 per hour
  • No refunds for early returns
  • Returning to the wrong location may incur a $500 fee

Cancellation Policy

  • More than 48 hours before hire: free cancellation
  • 24–48 hours before hire: 50% fee
  • Less than 24 hours before hire: 100% fee
  • Within 1 hour of booking: free

Right to Recover the Trailer

We reserve the right to collect the trailer at any time if these terms are breached. This includes situations where:

  • The trailer is being used unsafely or illegally
  • Payment is overdue
  • The trailer has been sublet or made available to an unauthorised party

Any costs associated with recovery may be charged to you.

Disputes

If something doesn't go as expected, we'd like to sort it out quickly and fairly. Here's how we handle disputes:

  • Please contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue directly
  • If we can't reach an agreement, either party may refer the matter to mediation
  • New Zealand law applies to all disputes

General

  • Charges may be applied to your card where applicable
  • Any unpaid amounts may incur additional fees, including late payment or recovery costs where applicable
  • New Zealand law applies
